Most Islamic centers don't struggle because they lack ideas. More often, they struggle to consistently turn those ideas into action.
Board meetings happen. Programs are discussed. Goals are set. Yet months later, many of the same challenges remain.
Not because people don't care — but because leadership teams often lack a shared system for planning, accountability, communication, and follow-through.
That's why we created the Barakah Leadership Grant—a donor-funded initiative designed to help a select number of Islamic centers strengthen their leadership, improve execution, and work together more effectively.
What selected centers will receive
Each selected center will participate in the Barakah Leadership Accelerator — a guided, hands-on leadership implementation program.
The Accelerator is facilitated by Malik Khan, co-author of the BARAKAH Framework and a leadership advisor who has spent more than 30 years helping organizations improve alignment, accountability, and execution.
- Leadership planning and alignment sessions
- Clear priorities and execution rhythms
- Accountability and follow-through systems
- Meeting structures that improve communication and decision-making
- Practical tools and templates
- Ongoing coaching and implementation support
The investment reflects the level of hands-on support, coaching, facilitation, and implementation assistance provided throughout the program. The full cost is covered by donors who believe in strengthening Islamic institutions.

Up to three Islamic centers will be selected for the pilot cohort

Our goal is not to select the largest centers. Our goal is to invest in the centers most committed to meaningful improvement.

Why Only Three Centers?
This is our pilot cohort. We are intentionally starting small so we can work closely with each leadership team and learn what creates the greatest impact.
Our goal is depth, not scale. By focusing on a small number of centers, we can provide meaningful support, gather feedback, and continue improving the program for future cohorts.
Before applying, please ensure your board or leadership team has reviewed this opportunity and is supportive of participating if selected. We have found that implementation is most successful when there is shared commitment from the beginning.

How much does the program cost?
There is no cost to selected Islamic centers. The investment in the Barakah Leadership Accelerator is $10,000, but the full cost is covered by donors who believe in strengthening Islamic institutions.
What kinds of Islamic centers are eligible?
We're looking for Islamic centers of various sizes that have an active board or leadership team and a genuine commitment to improving how they lead and execute. Selection is based on readiness and commitment — not size.
How much time should our leadership team expect to commit?
The program is designed for busy volunteer leaders. Specific scheduling details will be discussed with selected centers, but participants should be prepared to attend the implementation sessions and actively apply what they learn between meetings.
What happens after we submit our application?
Applications will be reviewed after the September 30 deadline. If your center is selected, we'll contact you to discuss next steps and confirm participation.
If we're not selected, can we apply again?
Absolutely. This is our pilot cohort, and we hope to expand the program in the future. Even if your center isn't selected this time, we'd encourage you to stay connected and apply for future opportunities.
